The American Dream

We're in the process of buying a house. It's a couple miles from here (still in West Salem), in the Brush Hills ward. It's a single-story, 1550 sf, 3 bedroom house which means there is lots of living (play) area. Built in 1990. It is on a cul-de-sac in a good neighborhood, a lot like my mom and dad's house (same look and feel). It has good grassy yard and deck and the neighborhood is all flat (which may not sound huge but that is very significant to us), so we can play outside, ride bikes, etc. There is a big park not too far away and it's about a 10 minute walk to Rychen's parent's house. There are just some little cosmetic things about the house, like the carpet and all the countertops are baby blue! The bathroom has horrible wall-paper so we'll strip that down. And it's painted pink outside. We negotiated a carpet allowance, so we'll replace the carpets before moving in. Also one of the bedrooms has those big fluorescent lights so I'd like to replace those also. And the backyard could use a fence since we're looking straight at the home behind us.

Rychen P. is very excited because the neighbors have 2 basketball hoops on the street -- "a big basketball hoop and a little basketball hoop." We are excited to meet these neighbors. We saw their 3 boys playing outside, and we think they are in the ward.

So the inspection is next week, closing the end of the month (July), so we'll be carpeting and moving the first couple days of August. Hopefully all goes well! We're not going to worry about anything other than carpets until we have our baby and get settled into our new routine. Rychen says he'll paint the walls one week when I go to Las Vegas so I don't have to be around the fumes.
